Over several weeks, BBVA brought together teams from across Spain to work on one central topic with Ferran Tort, psychologist, Change Management expert and TED speaker
How to develop a Growth Mindset to lead change in a context where transformation never stops.
The programme included six workshops with professionals from different areas and locations. The goal was not only to explain the theory, but to offer a space to pause, think and share how each person faces daily challenges in their work.
Feedback has been strongly positive. Many participants thanked the company for creating these moments to stop, reflect and learn together.
Why Growth Mindset is key for companies and Change Management
Throughout the sessions, Growth Mindset was presented as a daily practice, not as a concept for posters. In very concrete terms it helps companies to
Respond better to constant change and uncertainty
See mistakes as information to learn, not as something that closes possibilities
Use feedback as a tool to grow skills and not as a personal attack
Encourage experimentation and small tests instead of waiting for perfect plans
For Change Management, this mentality makes a real difference. When people believe they can learn and improve, they participate in change instead of resisting it. Leaders can talk openly about learning curves, new behaviors and the time it takes to adapt.
A participative format and safe spaces to share
The six workshops followed a very participative methodology. Each session combined short pieces of content with exercises and group conversations. Participants worked on real situations from their day to day, reflected on their own reactions and listened to colleagues from other teams.
The focus was on creating a safe and inclusive environment. From the beginning, the group agreed on respect, confidentiality and active listening. This made it easier for people to talk about moments where they feel blocked, insecure or under pressure.
Several ideas repeated themselves in the feedback
Appreciation for having training that allows them to stop and think about how to do their work better
The feeling that two hours passed very quickly because the format was dynamic and engaging
The wish to go deeper into the topic in future sessions
The perception that the course was inspiring and at the same time very practical and applicable to daily tasks
Many participants described the experience as one of the best trainings they had seen in the company, precisely because it mixed tools, reflection and personal stories.
What this experience shows for BBVA and other companies
These six workshops confirm something important for organisations that want future ready leaders
Working on Growth Mindset gives people more resources to face rapid change
Safe spaces to share and reflect are as valuable as technical content
Participative formats help employees connect with each other and with the culture the company wants to build
When Psychology and Trainings for Companies are aligned with real challenges, people leave the room with concrete ideas, language for their experiences and more confidence to navigate change.
The BBVA experience shows how a focused cycle of Growth Mindset workshops can support Change Management in a very tangible way. People do not only learn concepts. They experience a different way of thinking, working and relating to one another.
If your company also wants to develop Growth Mindset as a core skill for Change Management, you can work with Ferran Tort to
